Top Serene Beaches in South Goa

The long coastline and pristine beaches make Goa, without doubt, among the most popular tourist destinations in India. The Beaches in Goa allure a crazy number of domestic as well as international tourists and are an important part of the Goa Tourism. Though the most happening beaches like Baga, Calangute, Vagator, Anjuna and Mandrem are situated in North Goa but South Goa also has some of the most serene and beautiful beaches surrounded by exotic palm groves. The beaches in South Goa are known to be silent, less crowded and are the most convenient places to visit in Goa for an amazing leisure vacation.

Colva

Colva is one of the largest and stunning beaches located in South Goa. It has fine powdered white sand bounded by coconut palms that stretches from Bogmalo to Cabo de Rama. This is the oldest beach in Goa and also one of the top Goa Tourist Places. Popularly called as romantic gateway for beach lovers in India, Colva is South Goa’s most happening beach especially for shopping and nightlife. Water scooter rides, jet skiing, speed boat rides, snorkeling, swimming, banana boat rides, motorboat rides, etc. are some of the popular water sports activities offered in Colva Beach.

Palolem

Palolem is the most idyllic beaches in South Goa and also one of the most popular Goa places to visit. Also known as Paradise Beach, Palolem is a natural bay surrounded by lofty headlands on either side. This crescent shaped beach is about one mile long and is crowded by fishermen as well as tourists. At the northern end of the beach there is a fresh water stream and across the stream lies a small wooded island. There is a stone sculpture on the island created by an American artist Jacek Tylicki. This beach is perfect for an evening walk around the shallow shores and is also a popular hub to witness the happening nightlife in Goa. The beach offers a lot in terms of water sports.

Agonda

Agonda is a beautiful and peaceful beach located in South Goa. This wide, quiet and picturesque beach is considered as one of the isolated beaches in South Goa. The 3 km long stretch of this pristine beach is fairly unspoilt and is an ideal getaway for solitude and peace seekers. There is a turtle center at the northern end of the beach to protect precious Olive Ridley Turtles. This is also a great place for sunbathing, relaxing and swimming.

Benaulim

Known for its calm and peaceful environment, Benaulim Beach is one of the fairly undiscovered Goa Beaches. Situated in South Goa, it is an ideal place for picnic and one can just relax the day off soaking in the sun. This is the place where the legendary Parashuram’s arrow landed, by which Goa was created. Dolphin Cruises are the main attractions on this beach. The beach is also famous for water sports like parasailing, boat riding, jet skiing and bike rides. Beach shacks offer great sea food, traditional Indian food, and lots of Beer along with cocktails.

Betalbatim

Betalbatim is one of the pleasant beaches in Goa situated between the Majorda and Colva Beaches. Popularly known as the Sunset Beach, it is one of the better known and considerably well-developed beaches in the South Goa. Known for its clean sands and beautiful surroundings, this is amongst the cleanest of all the Goa beaches and has considerably less commercial activity compared to Colva and other popular beaches. Dolphins are a common site near the shores of Betalbatim and the local fishermen offer a ride to the tourists to catch a glimpse of the dolphins. This is a perfect place to spend peaceful time with families and friends. The shacks at the beach offer delicious Goan cuisine.

Cansaulim

Cansaulim is one of the famed beaches located in South Goa. Cansaulim beach along with the neighboring beaches of Arossim and Cuelim beach forms India’s second largest beach stretch. With a beautiful golden sands and palm trees, the beach is incredibly clean and tidy. Gives a deserted look by its large stretches of white sand, it is one of the best Goa tourist places and among the best beaches in Goa. The beach also offers various water sports activities such as windsurfing, catamarans, diving, fishing, parasailing and jet skiing.
